ebm-papst's Smart Fan Solutions Tailored for the Rail Industry
10/10/2025ebm-papst provides smart fan solutions customized for the rail industry, focusing on enhanced power density and efficiency across its product lines.
The newest RadiPac centrifugal fan series, the RadiPac C, stands out for its high energy efficiency and quiet operation. Its peak efficiency comes from an aerodynamically refined impeller—crafted from a durable, glass-fiber reinforced composite—paired with state-of-the-art EC motors. This new model is engineered for direct, one-to-one replacement of older fans, allowing users to leverage the plug-and-play centrifugal fans’ better efficiency and lower energy use. Notably, in railway applications, RadiPac C fans (sizes 310 to 450) deliver strong performance in cooling auxiliary converters.
Another recent innovation, the RadiCal Gen. 2 centrifugal fan, is well-suited for train use due to its low noise, compact size, and high airflow. Within the upgraded RadiCal lineup, a novel 3D blade design reduces the tip gap compared to the previous generation. This improvement cuts energy losses, boosts efficiency, and minimizes noise. RadiCal fans in sizes 190 to 280 are used in scenarios like cabin cooling, and they come in 24 V DC, 110 V DC, and 400 V AC options depending on their size.
The AxiEco Track brings the proven advantages of ebm-papst’s axial fan series to rail transport. It stands out with its compact design, highly efficient EC motors, plug-and-play functionality, and robust resistance to vibration and shock—qualities that make it perfect for train applications. Historically, inefficient AC fans have been common in such settings, but unlike modern EC fans, these AC models are hard to adjust as needed and thus waste significant electrical energy. The noise-optimized AxiEco Track balances low noise levels with the required efficiency. Unsurprisingly, it complies with rail industry standards, including EN 44545 (for fire safety) and EN 50121-3-2 (for electromagnetic compatibility). Available in sizes 300 to 500, its pressure-resistant performance curve makes it versatile for uses like cooling air conditioner condensers, electronics, and inverters.
