ebm-papst Inc. Invests $3M to Expand Farmington, Connecticut Manufacturing & Engineering Hub
09/09/2025ebm-papst Inc. has unveiled a major expansion plan for its manufacturing and engineering facility in Farmington, Connecticut—a strategic step to reinforce local production capacities and drive workforce development in the region. Scheduled to launch this summer, the $3 million project will add approximately 14,500 square feet to the existing site, with a key focus on revitalizing the facility's Tooling Center.
This center plays a critical role in crafting specialized manufacturing equipment, supporting not only the Farmington location but also the company's facility in Tennessee. Beyond upgrading the Tooling Center's size and functional capabilities to meet growing production demands, the expansion will include the construction of a new drive-through dock. Equipped with side-unloading features, this dock is designed to streamline material handling processes and improve truck circulation, ultimately boosting logistical efficiency.
Additionally, the project will incorporate extensive landscaping work to enhance the site's visual appeal, along with the installation of new lighting systems that elevate both functionality and aesthetics—elements that align with ebm-papst’s focus on innovation and sustainability.
Mark Shiring, CEO of Air Technology Americas, emphasized the significance of the expansion, stating, “The upgraded Tooling Center strengthens our commitment to optimizing production workflows and enhancing support for North American operations. By localizing our tooling capabilities, we aim to increase operational efficiency and responsiveness while reducing dependence on external resources.”
This latest investment builds on the company's recent growth momentum: less than two years ago, in November 2022, ebm-papst opened its second U.S. facility in Telford, Tennessee—a state-of-the-art plant for manufacturing highly energy-efficient electronically commutated (EC) fans and motors, which was completed in just 12 months. With construction on the Connecticut expansion set to begin later this year, the move reaffirms ebm-papst’s dedication to operational excellence and sustainable growth across North America.
