How to wire a capacitive fan?

02/29/2024

We mentioned before that the capacitor fan is a type of AC fan. Because the power supply is a unidirectional AC power supply, a capacitor needs to be connected in series with the auxiliary winding. This causes a voltage phase difference between the main and auxiliary winding to generate a rotating magnetic field to drive the rotor to rotate.

Taking this R2E190 series fan as an example, by checking the fan nameplate or specification, we can see that the starting capacitor required by the fan is 1.5uF (microfarad) and the withstand voltage is 400V. After preparing the capacitor that meets the requirements , we can start wiring.

The yellow-green wire of the fan is connected to the ground wire of the power supply, the blue wire of the fan is connected to the hot wire of the power supply, and the black wire of the fan is connected to the neutral wire of the power supply. At the same time, one end of the starting capacitor is connected to the neutral line of the power supply, and the brown line of the fan is connected to the other end of the starting capacitor. The wiring part is completed.

At this time, power on the fan and the fan will run normally.
